We Are Proudly American Single Malt

For the first time in over 52 years, American whiskey has a new official identity—and Blue Flag is honored to be part of it. The U.S. Government has formally recognized American Single Malt Whiskey as a distinct category, protecting its craft and its story. Beginning January 19, 2025, the designation safeguards the integrity, transparency, and heritage behind this uniquely American expression.

To be called American Single Malt Whiskey, every bottle must be:

Made from 100% malted barley
Distilled entirely at one distillery
Mashed, distilled, and matured in the u.s.
Aged in oak casks not exceeding 700 liters
Distilled to no higher than 160 proof
Bottled at 80 proof or above

We are in the process of joining the American Single Malt Whiskey Commission, aligning with the distillers shaping the future of American whiskey.
